Bagels

Bagels really are a Canadian thing. It is so hard to track down a bagel in any of the stores here. Most bakeries don’t even sell them! If you are lucky to find some in grocery stores, you can find them on the bottom shelf, in one brand, with only two or three different flavours.Continue reading “Bagels”

Byron Bay

Byron Bay is a small little beach town with a lot of heart, and a lot of spirit. Everyone is so laid back, and chilled out. It is the perfect stereotype for the “surfer lifestyle”. Everyone around town walks around in bathing suits, with surfboards, and bare feet. Even in the supermarkets people were inContinue reading “Byron Bay”

Next Destination!

Last night I left Sydney and travelled on another 12 hour bus ride to Byron Bay! From what I can tell so far…I am really gonna like it here…It is paradise!

Happy New Year!

For New Year’s Eve I spent the day at the Royal Botanical Gardens with thousands of other people anxiously awaiting the fireworks at midnight. I arrived there at 11:30 am and got a great spot right on the hill. I had a picnic lunch all packed, and layed out in the sun all day untilContinue reading “Happy New Year!”

Australian Grub

Now I am sure you are wondering what we eat. We mostly eat takeaway (what they call take-out), which has consisted of McDonalds, cheap Asian food, kebabs (Turkish wraps), or pizza. Don’t worry…This is not all we have been eating! Most of the hostels that we have been staying at have offered free breakfast, whichContinue reading “Australian Grub”

Blue Mountains

Yesterday I took a solo excursion to the Blue Mountains. It was an extremely hot day, but was the scenery and view was worth it!First we went to a native site where they showed us drawings in the stone that have been there for thousands of years. This is a picture of a Kangaroo. The storyContinue reading “Blue Mountains”

Slumdog

After a week of slumming it, we finally decided to get our act together and move out of our “humble abode”, and to a new hostel. We have learned to appreciate an air conditioned room, a closed window (having people screaming and yelling intoxicated throughout all hours of the night is not ideal), a bathroomContinue reading “Slumdog”

Sydney Aquarium

Yesterday we went to the Sydney Aquarium. I have been to a couple of different aquarium’s before, but this one was particularly interesting as most of it’s ocean life was found right here in Australia! There are many different types of marine life that I have never even seen before. Here is a long neckContinue reading “Sydney Aquarium”

The Harbour

Yesterday we finally made it to Sydney’s harbour!!! It is very pretty, and very busy. All along the side of the harbour are little restaurants and cafes that over look the harbour. Giving you the best views of the Opera house and the bridge. I hope to indulge in a fancy night at one ofContinue reading “The Harbour”

Sydney

Two days ago we arrived downtown Sydney. It is such a busy little city. Somewhat like Toronto, but such pretty architecture everywhere! We haven’t been able to do any of the touristy things yet; we just walked around a small portion of the city. There are these beautiful purple trees that I have become obsessedContinue reading “Sydney”

Don’t stop believing

There are so many pretty parts about Australia so far, and one of my favourite’s is the cool rock formations. They look like pieces of toffee, and are so fascinating to look at. We even saw some people sitting in them reading. Definitely a perfect spot to sit…read a book…tan…and watch the surfers! We foundContinue reading “Don’t stop believing”

Bondi Beach

After 22 hours on the plane…we have arrived in AUSTRALIA, first stop Bondi Beach…we plan on staying here or about a week. The first day that we got here, it was pretty cold and windy. When we first got out of the airport, it was so confusing trying to get used to the cars beingContinue reading “Bondi Beach”

Today is the DAY!

Tonight @ 8:15 pm I leave for AUSTRALIA! I cannot believe how fast this time has come since I started planning on going, and when I first booked my flight. I still don’t believe it. I had five of my best friends over last night, and it was so surreal when we would talk aboutContinue reading “Today is the DAY!”
