CANADA!

After 8 months and 1 week…100s of new friends…11 flights…10 hostels…7 buses…5 different states…4 capital cities…1 campervan…1 apartment… I am back home in Brampton, Ontario, Canada! I was greeted by my parents, my cousin Lisa and my Auntie Olga and Uncle Joe at the airport. It was extremely exciting and emotional to see them whenContinue reading “CANADA!”

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada to all my Canadians back at home! I hope everyone has amazing BBQs, great cottage weekends and plenty of Canadian beer in honour of our amazing country! Since I have been in Australia, I have grown even fonder and have grown a huge appreciation and dedication to my country. I am so extremelyContinue reading “Happy Canada Day!”

Fraser Island

*PHOTOS TO BE LOADED ONCE I GET A CONNECTION* This past weekend I went to Fraser Island for three days and two nights camping. Fraser Island is an island right off of the coast about twenty minutes from Rainbow Beach. We went in groups of about seven or eight people in a 4-wheel drive car.Continue reading “Fraser Island”

Rainbow Beach

After an hour bus ride at 2:45 am to Cairns…waiting until 6:00 am at the airport for my flight…flight being delayed an hour and a half…finally arriving in Brisbane at 9:30 am…taking a 30 minute train into the city…waiting until 2:00 pm for my five hour bus ride…arriving at Rainbow Beach at 7:00 pm….I AMContinue reading “Rainbow Beach”

Bye Port Douglas!

Today I leave Port Douglas, and head back South to Brisbane, and then it is onto Fraser Island. I have lived in Port Douglas for just about a month, and it has been amazing. Parrotfish Lodge was such an amazing hostel with free breakfast, free internet, free bike hire, two free BBQs a week, andContinue reading “Bye Port Douglas!”

Party with the Crocs

Last weekend we rented a pontoon boat for a few hours drove up the river in search for crocs! We were able to drive the boat and have a BBQ. It was so fun to relax and take our own pace down the river. We saw three different crocodiles…but this was the BIGGEST one!CRIKEY!

ROAD TRIP…so far

Last Wednesday we started our road trip from Surfer’s Paradise up to Cairns. Which is about 1763 km away! On our first day, I was the first to drive. At first it was pretty nerve racking trying to get used to being on the left side of the road, and basically everything being opposite. ButContinue reading “ROAD TRIP…so far”

St. Patrick’s Day

For the past four years I have celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in Waterloo, where all the students would enjoy one of the greatest party days of the year, take a break from midterms and essays and get all dolled up in GREEN!This year, I just assumed that St. Patrick’s Day wouldn’t be as big ofContinue reading “St. Patrick’s Day”

Bagels

Bagels really are a Canadian thing. It is so hard to track down a bagel in any of the stores here. Most bakeries don’t even sell them! If you are lucky to find some in grocery stores, you can find them on the bottom shelf, in one brand, with only two or three different flavours.Continue reading “Bagels”

Byron Bay

Byron Bay is a small little beach town with a lot of heart, and a lot of spirit. Everyone is so laid back, and chilled out. It is the perfect stereotype for the “surfer lifestyle”. Everyone around town walks around in bathing suits, with surfboards, and bare feet. Even in the supermarkets people were inContinue reading “Byron Bay”

Sydney Aquarium

Yesterday we went to the Sydney Aquarium. I have been to a couple of different aquarium’s before, but this one was particularly interesting as most of it’s ocean life was found right here in Australia! There are many different types of marine life that I have never even seen before. Here is a long neckContinue reading “Sydney Aquarium”

The Harbour

Yesterday we finally made it to Sydney’s harbour!!! It is very pretty, and very busy. All along the side of the harbour are little restaurants and cafes that over look the harbour. Giving you the best views of the Opera house and the bridge. I hope to indulge in a fancy night at one ofContinue reading “The Harbour”

Bondi Beach

After 22 hours on the plane…we have arrived in AUSTRALIA, first stop Bondi Beach…we plan on staying here or about a week. The first day that we got here, it was pretty cold and windy. When we first got out of the airport, it was so confusing trying to get used to the cars beingContinue reading “Bondi Beach”

Today is the DAY!

Tonight @ 8:15 pm I leave for AUSTRALIA! I cannot believe how fast this time has come since I started planning on going, and when I first booked my flight. I still don’t believe it. I had five of my best friends over last night, and it was so surreal when we would talk aboutContinue reading “Today is the DAY!”
